We are living in a material world — and that material is plastic. At least, that’s what neighborhood resident Laura Ainsworth might say. Her comedic show, complete with musical parodies about topics such as Botox, plastic surgery and age-appropriate fashion, pokes fun at society’s pathological obsession with age — that is, our obsession to stay young. “My Ship Has Sailed” may have audiences doubled over in laughter, but it does have a message — age doesn’t matter. That’s where her website comes in. “It’s great because my show is only so long. There are limits to what I can say. But so much more can be said on the issue. People can go to my website and see what else there is,” she says. Of course, that’s along with all kinds of additional information about the show, bios, schedules, and links to other sites. Ainsworth and her husband, Pat Reeder, started the show a little more than a year ago. Because they did it all on their own, the couple had no budget for publicity. So Reeder designed the website as a way to get the word out. And it worked. Ainsworth and Reeder are currently making plans to take the show on the road. But for now, check them out live at their next show Sunday, May 8, at the Django Theater in Addison .
