Lakewood resident Angie Speer decided to leave the business world and become a stay-at-home mom when her twins were born. But this former pharmaceutical sales rep had “nothing to wear, unless I wanted to wear dress slacks and a button-down to Chuck E. Cheese,” she says. She didn’t want to dress up all the time, but couldn’t seem to find clothing to fit her new role either. “The stuff I saw in stores was great for pre-baby body, but not for post-baby body,” she says. So Speer decided to try her hand at fashion design. “I literally bought 20 T-shirts and hand-printed them and gave them to my girlfriends,” she says. After getting positive feedback from friends, and even from strangers at the grocery store, Speer launched a full line of T-shirts, pants and more adorned with her designs. “Moms want cute clothes, too, so I use a thicker, higher-quality T-shirt and soft, comfortable fabrics for the pants,” she says. Speer will launch a new line this fall that includes T-shirts and thermals for kids.
