You can take the girl out of Dallas, but you can’t take Dallas out of the girl. Or at least that proved to be the case for filmmaker Amy Talkington during her latest project, “The Night of the White Pants”. The Swiss Avenue native who now lives in Los Angeles filmed her first feature film in our neighborhood. “Most people think of the TV show when they think of Dallas, but I wanted to show the other sides of Dallas that I knew.” The movie — which stars Tom Wilkinson, Nick Stahl and Selma Blair — is centered on a millionaire who bonds with his daughter’s punk boyfriend during a chaotic night. The duo embarks on a wild adventure that takes them to some familiar places, like a Swiss Avenue house and the Double Wide bar off Commerce. “Anyone in Dallas will like seeing some of those familiar sights you don’t typically get to see in movies,” Talkington says. “And you definitely know one, if not all, of these characters.” Even the background music will likely sound familiar because all of it is by local bands like The Golden Falcons and Riverboat Gamblers. This movie might be a sign of what’s to come for Talkington. She has written “Deeply Shallow and Really Fake,” another script about a Dallas debutante that she also hopes to film here.
