It seems that the new term for "McMansions" is "nearly new houses". That’s according to texascommunityguide.com, which appears to be a real estate site.
I had to chuckle at the site’s description of Lakewood: "you might be tempted to think you’re in a quiet suburban town, where historical buildings have been carefully preserved" except for the fact that "Lakewood is unbelievably close to the center of Dallas." All of this, including the preservation of historical buildings, apparently, "make Lakewood’s nearly new houses especially attractive."
