It’s only appropriate that the landmark Lakewood Theater, which has been dark for months as its neon lights have undergone repairs, will light up this Friday night, Nov. 30, in conjunction with the Lakewood Shopping Center’s annual “Light Up Lakewood” event.

Neighborhood architect Norman Alston, who won an award for his work on the historic theater, made the announcement on Facebook.

“The completely restored neon and theater marquee lighting will be switched back on and resume the almost 80 year old tradition!” Alston wrote. “Join us Friday night!”
