Starbucks closed

The Starbucks at 6312 La Vista in Lakewood shopping center is closed for renovations for the next 10-ish days. (They’re calling it a “10-day remodel,” but it closed last night and won’t open until Feb. 2, which is technically 11 days. If we’re being technical.)

Starbucks closed 2In those 10-ish days, the space is getting a major overhaul, and as Lonny Marple, the general contractor with Lakeside Commercial Builders who was standing outside the doors warding off coffee-hungry customers, put it: “We aren’t joking around.”

A brief peek through the open front doors (I wasn’t allowed to go inside for safety reasons), revealed an almost entirely unrecognizable space. All the furniture had been removed, and the bar area had been torn out.

Construction will continue non-stop, 24 hours a day until it reopens on Feb. 2. The new space will have a new bar area, all new furniture and better accommodations for customers who want to sit and stay a while, like better internet connection and more electrical outlets.

“By the time it opens up, it’ll be a whole new Starbucks,” Marple said.
