The 21st Annual Lakewood Home Festival, presented by the Lakewood Early Childhood PTA, is just around the corner.
The festival, which benefits Lakewood Elementary, will take place Nov. 8 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Nov. 9 from noon-5 p.m.
Last year, an estimated 4,000 people attended the festival, helping raise about $50,000, the festival’s best year, according to Chris Weber, president of the Lakewood Early Childhood PTA.
In past years, money raised has paid for new playground equipment, computers and other educational items not provided by Dallas Public Schools.
Tickets are $8 in advance and $10 at the festival. They can be purchased at Lakewood Elementary, Minyard’s at Gaston and Abrams or at any of the festival homes.
Featured festival homes include 6641 Avalon, sponsored by Group One Realtors; 6921 Lakewood, sponsored by Henry S. Miller Realtors; 7027 Lakewood, sponsored by RE/MAX About Town Realtors; 7103 Lakewood, sponsored by Coldwell Banker Whiteside Associates; and 6922 Wabash, sponsored by Republic Title of Texas, Inc. – Lakewood and Park Cities Offices.
In addition to the home tour, there will be a crafts fair and the “Taste of Lakewood” both days at Lakewood Elementary, 3000 Hillbrook. The crafts fair will showcase the pottery, jewelry and other accessories of 80 artists and craftsmen, many of whom are neighborhood residents, while the “Taste of Lakewood” will feature food from neighborhood restaurants.
“It is a fun way to kick off fall,” Weber says. “I know people look forward to it every year.”
“It’s a great thing for the community to support because it benefits the neighborhood school.”
Major event sponsors are Advocate Publishing, publisher of the Lakewood/East Dallas Advocate and the Lake Highlands Advocate, and Fidelity Bank.
