If you’ve been keeping up with the recent events at Lakewood Elementary, you know Kaye Simmons, the (now former) principal at Lakewood Elementary School, sent out a school-wide email last week, saying she won’t be returning to Lakewood Elementary in the fall. Last we heard, Lakewood Elementary was hunting for a new principal to replace her, and they were vetting an important candidate.
Lakewood Elementary announced Toni Goodman will be the new principal.
Goodman currently works as the Assistant Principal of Irving High School in Irving ISD. Before that, she was an elementary principal in Fort Bend ISD, and she holds a M.Ed. in Educational Administration from Texas A&M University.
Chris Prestridge, the Friends of Lakewood President, was present during the initial, roundtable interview earlier this week — which included teachers, staff and representation from Dallas ISD, LECPTA, LEEF and the Site Based Decision Making committee — and he says the group unanimously voted to approve her. They were impressed with Goodman’s straightforward and strong leadership skills, he says.
After giving it a couple days of thought, Goodman accepted the position last night.
