Former neighborhood resident Kevin Sullivan completes his West Wing/White House tour of duty Friday when he steps down as White House Communications Director (that’s the job held by Toby Ziegler on the West Wing TV show).. Robert Wilonsky with the Dallas Observer has a great story about "Sully" and what’s it’s like to be at the center of activity for a few years. Plenty of neighborhood residents can tell you stories about Sullivan’s exploits with the White Rock YMCA Indian Guide program (that’s what it was called back then), along with his experience with the Mavs and Dallas failed attempt to attract the Olympics here. I know him barely, and primarily through neighborhood residents Jim Van Zandt and Roy Burchfield. Forgetting about politics (to be honest, I don’t even know if Sullivan is a big-time Republican or not), he’s just a heckuva nice guy who has had the opportunity to see a part of the world most of us will never experience.
