A witness told police that Stoneking asked him to call a Lyft ride because he had fallen. When the Lyft arrived, Stoneking was unresponsive. The driver immediately called 911, and emergency responders arrived to transport him to Baylor Hospital.

Stoneking — who had noticeable scrapes and bruises on his hands and lower extremities — was pronounced dead Sunday at about 12:40 p.m.

Police found the scooter, broken in half, about 150 meters south of where Stoneking was found.

In a statement, Lime said the company is “deeply saddened to hear the report of this incident in Dallas” and “will cooperate fully with authorities.”
