You’ve heard of a clotheshorse, but a “clothes dinosaur”? No? Then it’s time you met Dallas’ (and likely, the world’s) best-dressed theropod. The T. Rex towering over the trees along Whittier is perplexing, but not petrifying, and a study in whimsy rather than paleontology. His garb, a rotating assortment of hats, sunglasses, scarves and such, squelches all preconceived notions about his infamous carnivorous ancestors. Plus, this chicly-clad creature isn’t a flesh eater at all — he’s made of pure steel. Deno or Dena (he’s a cross dresser, explains owner Andi Comini) came to Forest Hills last summer from Quanah, Texas, where Comini spotted him at a roadside metal-sculpture market. “I saw him and knew I had to have him,” she says. The shopkeeper drove a hard bargain and Comini had to haggle, but swore she wasn’t going home without her find. In her negotiations, Comini also acquired a metal wart hog, bull elk and several iron pigs, which all reside in her back yard.
