Kenjah is in a reggae band and believes in peace and positivity, but when she shows up to practice in a professional pantsuit instead of puka shells and a headscarf, her band members have to remind themselves of her day job. Kenjah, otherwise known as KENDRAH NICHOLS, is part of the Nicholas Network, a local real estate team. A licensed Realtor by the age of 18, Nichols has always parlayed her business savvy into the music business, formerly working for Interscope Records. But after having her daughter, Mosiah, Nichols was forced to turn down numerous booking and management jobs because they frequently forced her to be away from home. She continued to work as a Realtor, but was lacking a creative outlet until she met the people that would end up forming the reggae band Aton. “Reggae is about unifying and healing,” Nichols says. She not only sings with the band, but handles all its business aspects as well. “I’m kind of like the mama of the group,” Nichols says, smiling. Her dual personality often surprises her co-workers and clients, but when they discover she has talents outside of asking prices and closing costs, they almost always want to watch her play.
