Homer Henderson performs his one-man band in an early show at Smoke and Mirrors Gallery Sunday.

Henderson is from Fort Worth, and he lives in Austin now, but he lived in Dallas long enough to call himself “The Pride of Beckley Avenue.” And his stage name comes from the intersection of Henderson and Homer in our ‘hood.

Henderson’s repertoire includes the classics “Pickin Up Beer Cans on the Highway,” “I Want a Date with a Cowboy Cheerleader” and “Lee Harvey was a Friend of Mine.” His songs have been covered by the Asylum Street Spankers and Old 97s, among others.

The show at Smoke and Mirrors is from 4-8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 4, and also features Matt the Cat Trio, a new rockabilly side project from members of Eleven Hundred Springs. Tickets cost $12. It’s BYOB, and they’re serving barbecue all day.
