It all started when my wife, who was looking at advertising circulars in today’s Dallas Only, noticed an ad for a battery powered marshmallow toaster. A what? There it was in a circular for Hallmark stores. I couldn’t find a link to it at the Hallmark website, but here’s the same product from another gift company. Who knew? This particular catalog had several gift ideas that had not occurred to me, including a battery operated hot dog grille roller and a battery operated pet massager. Again, I had to find these on other websites in order to share them with our readers.

This started a quest by me for other original ideas that might be found in todays paper. My favorites were in the Northern Tool + Equipment circular. There amongst the go carts, impact wrenches and heavy-duty jack stands were two electric meat grinders, one that can handle 176 pounds of meat per hour, or the other which grinds a whopping 260 pounds while using only 650 watts of electricity. Wow.

The find of the day was elsewhere in the Northern catalog.  Straight out of the workshop of Tim "The Tool Man" Taylor comes the Gas Powered Party Blender.  That’s right, an oversized stainless steel blender run by a  23cc gasoline engine and controlled by motorcycle handlebars. Don’t wait. It’s a limited time offer.

Is it a coincidence that all but one of these one-of-a-kind gifts is associated with food preparation?
