These toilets are purely aesthetic. The stone structures atop Doran Circle will never reopen as glorified outhouses (as well as meeting spots for degenerate activities — don’t pretend you don’t remember the ‘80s), because they don’t comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act. They will be left essentially as is — permanently sealed. Portable restrooms will be available nearby. The longstanding latrines are considered worthy of preservation because the Civilian Conservation Corps built them back in the late ‘30s. They match the style of many structures at White Rock Lake, including the pavilion at Flag Pole Hill. So the city plans to protect these potties.
