Hillside Village may have lost a neighborhood bar when Lakewood’s 1st and 10 closed unexpectedly last month, but it will gain another when Hillside Tavern opens at 4 p.m. Monday.

Hillside Tavern, located at 6465 E. Mockingbird Lane, will serve menu items like a burger, patty melt and muffaletta seven days a week. Twelve beers on tap will be offered, along with wines, cocktails and 20 to 30 beers in bottles or cans, GuideLive reported. Brunch is coming in a few weeks, and it can be enjoyed on a patio when it’s completed.

The interior sports a modern design with warm wood panels and exposed red brick. Guests may recognized the tables from FT33, a former restaurant in the Design District, and chairs  from Smoke Plano, according to GuideLive.

The eatery is the brainchild of chef Nathan Tate and restaurateurs Bradley and Brooks Anderson. The Andersons also operate Veritas Wine Room on Henderson Avenue and Rapscallion on Lower Greenville. Tate has worked at the Blind Butcher and HG Sply Co.

The tavern will join Dream Cafe, White Rock Coffee and several other restaurants in Hillside Village.

“We’re a super neighborhood spot,” Brooks Anderson told GuideLive. “We’re here for Lakewood.”
