Deviled crab, Salisbury steak, baked turkey wings, rhubarb pie, something called “Argentine.” Another thing called “perfection.”

These are old-school dishes that used to be on the Highland Park Cafeteria menu. The restaurant is bringing them back for one night only and for a good cause.

The cafeteria breaks out the old recipes with a dinner at 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 28 benefiting Living Water International. The restaurant is helping a local family dig a water well in Honduras through that nonprofit.

From the media release: “Just by eating delicious Highland Park recipes paired with vintage sodas you can be a part of bringing better health, hygiene, education and employment to many deserving people.”

Diners will get to vote on their favorite classic dish. Tickets cost $15 and are available by calling 214.324.5000.

My old Better Homes and Gardens New Cook Book tells me perfection is a salad made with gelatin and veggies. One recipe for perfection found online says it’s supposed to be served with a dollop of Hellmann’s mayonnaise. Anyone have a hankering for that?

Argentine is also a gelatin-based salad, but this one is made with fruit and pecans.
