Back Talk reader Alex pointed out the link to this great news for the neighborhood: Hexter Elementary is one of four DISD schools nominated by the Texas Education Agency for the national 2009 No Child Left Behind-Blue Ribbon Schools Award. The award is given to schools that have shown significant performance improvement among all students during the past three years. The other nominated schools are Dealey International Academy, Peabody Elementary and Townview’s School of Health Professions.
As a sidenote, Hexter is the beneficiary of the April 25-26 White Rock Home Tour, which is sponsored by Advocate Magazines. The fourth-annual tour features four mid-century modern homes, and one green home. You can save $5 per ticket by buying prior to April 25; visit the tour’s website for more information.
