Hari Mari, an East Dallas-based footwear and clothing store known for its sandals, is expanding its product offerings with its first women’s boot.
The women’s ‘midland,’ as the Chelsea boot is called, will be available in three colors — autumn, black and taupe. It launched just as cooler temperatures are on the way.
“Over the years, we’ve been perfecting our sandals, which customers love for the immediate comfort and durability, so we decided it was about time we brought these same product characteristics to women’s boots,” co-founder Lila Stewart said in a press release.
The boots, which cost $170, are made with suede and allow wearers to put on and take off the shoes easily. Inside, dual-density memory foam inserts add comfort.
Men’s boots are also available in different styles.
Seeing a gap in the flip-flop market, Lakewood residents Lila and Jeremy Stewart founded Hari Mari in 2012. “Hari” means “sun” in the Indonesian language, and in Latin, “mari” means “sea.”
Their original space is located on Haskell Avenue, and they have since expanded to a brick-and-mortar storefront on Knox Street. Hari Mari is sold in more than 1,000 retail locations in the United States, Canada, Mexico and the Bahamas, as well as online.
In a keynote speech at the Greater East Dallas Chamber of Commerce’s Economic Summit, Lila Stewart said that Hari Maris have even been worn by celebrities including Joanna Gaines, who gained fame through the HGTV show Fixer Upper.
The brand also values philanthropy, so a percentage of each sale is donated to help families cover the cost of pediatric cancer treatments.
