A gun was found and confiscated from a student at Solar Preparatory School for Boys on Friday, Aug. 23.
The school was tipped about the student having a gun Friday morning, according to a letter from the school to Solar Prep families. The same letter outlines the implementation of new security measures starting Monday, Aug. 26, which includes metal detectors for sixth through eighth grade students and backpack checks for students third grade and up.
The school will be hosting a meeting to discuss the changes and address concerns in the school’s auditorium, Monday, Aug. 26th.
