Politics aside, lots of children are going to need food, clothing and housing in the next few weeks, and East Dallas Girl Scout Troop 1518 plans to do its part to help.

The troop is collecting items with a goal of making 1,500-2,000 bags for the children in need: T-shirts, pajamas, small blankets, underwear, socks, shoes, small stuffed animals, coloring books and crayons, young reader bilingual books, and non-perishable snacks. The troop is also accepting monetary donations.

For those interested, donate items at Genaro’s RestaurantOlivella’s or Salon Suites in Hillside Village shopping center at Mockingbird and Abrams. They will continue collecting items through the first week of August and then re-group and decide where to go from there.
