Mockingbird and Abrams has had a busy month. Meso Maya opened its first Lakewood location on Aug. 15 and a few days later it was announced that H-E-B is buying the Minyard Sun Fresh Market on the southeast corner of the intersection.
The news keeps coming for the busy crossroads. Recently a sign was hung at the former Rex’s Seafood & Chop House on the northeast corner claiming that Manny’s Uptown Tex-Mex will soon fill the spot that has been vacant since May. Angelica Castro, a manager at the Oak Grove Manny’s, confirmed the news, but couldn’t give a timeline for when the new restaurant will open.
Rex’s Seafood held the location for seven months before being locked out “because it has failed to pay rent.”
