Not only did the group break its fundraising record from last year by $10,000, it also broke the record for money raised for the Geneva Heights Peace Pantry. With more than $7,000 in donations, the Peace Pantry is covered for the rest of 2020. The pantry provides canned foods, nonperishables and snacks for children who might not have access to food sources.

The Pre-Geneva Association, which provides a forum for expectant parents and families with children under the age of 5, drew 180 people to the Feb. 21 event at The Granada Theater, 3524 Greenville Ave.

“What started as a vision of creating a ‘little community event’ back in 2019 has turned into something so much more, yielding thousands of dollars to support Geneva Heights and other community initiatives,” a spokesperson for the association said in a news release.

Geneva Nights included food, an open bar, a photo booth, an ’80s cover band, a wine pull, raffle and auction. At the auction, Principal Michael Ruiz’s babysitting skills were in high demand and yielded a final bid of $750.
