Have you seen our May 2012 article about things for kids to do this summer?
Well, here’s another one and it’s pretty good.
Whole Foods in Lakewood is partnering with the Dallas Museum of Nature and Science, The Lab at Lakewood and Studio Arts to provide programming for the wee ones.
Every Thursday, 11 a.m. to noon, between May 10 and August 16, cool events will take place Kids Club Activity in the Café area at Whole Foods Lakewood, 2118 Abrams. They are all free, but you MUST register HERE. Call 214.824.1744 for more info.

Thursday, May 10th
Activity: Ice Cream in a Bag
Get ready for camping outdoors (or indoors!) with our favorite
campground activities!
We will be making Ice Cream in a Bag! This camping classic is
an easy way to discover the effects of cold on liquids as well as
making an all-natural treat!

Thursday, May 24th
Activity: Magnet Mania
Join us in the for an hour of science and wonder with the
Dallas Museum of Nature & Science!
Presenting…Magnet Mania!
May the force be with you! Experience a hands-on approach to
understanding the power of magnetism. Students will gain
knowledge of different kinds of magnets, and what magnets
can do while engaging in a variety of magnetic activity stations.
Suitable for kids ages 4-8.

Activity: Studio Arts
Ready to unleash that inner artist? Studio Arts will be in the
store leading an hour of artistic fun. Kids will get to make an art
project and take it home with them!
Thursday, June 7th
Activity: Fudge in a Bag
Join us for another round of campground favorites! This week
we will be doing Fudge in a bag!
The little chefs will be pouring all the ingredients into plastic
bags and getting the chance to squeeze and pull to create their
own chocolate fudge!

Activity: Plant Path
Join us in the for an hour of science and wonder with the
Dallas Museum of Nature & Science!
Presenting…Plant Path!
Take on the role of a botanist as you dissect a lima bean to
learn more about the structure and importance of plants on
Earth. Students will also visit hands-on plant stations to
understand the “magic” of seeds and prepare a take-home
activity so they can predict and observe plant growth at their
own pace.

Activity: Adapt to Survive
Join us in the for an hour of science and wonder with the
Dallas Museum of Nature & Science!
Presenting…Adapt to Survive
Kids will learn about physical and behavioral adaptations that
enable animals to live in many diverse Texas ecosystems.
Students will explore which animals live in their neighborhood
and understand the adaptations that allow those animals to
survive in their urban backyard! Various taxidermy specimens,
skulls, shells, and other objects will be used to engage students
in a lively discussion for this program. !

and conserve resources. This three part series will focus on
