Stellar is now open on Henderson.
Stellar Kitchen and Cocktails is hoping to stand out in the crowded cocktail scene on Henderson, after opening in April. With sleek mid-century modern touches and a menu of crafted drinks enhanced with everything from dry ice to flaming orange peels, it should feel right at home in the hip neighborhood. Drinks will run you $8-$12, while food specialities like lobster mac and cheese, mussels in white wine sauce and bison meatloaf cost anywhere from $9-$18.
Stellar took over the space at 2810 N. Henderson Ave. that was occupied for over a decade by Vickery Park, a place that was popular with locals in the neighborhood.
Jimmy John’s sandwich shop at 9003 Garland Road also marked its debut this month. The news was met with mixed reviews on our neighborhood’s sounding board, a.k.a. the Lakewood Facebook page. Many expressed delight to have a new sub shop in the neighborhood, while others vowed not to patronize the place, citing the company founder’s controversial hobby of hunting big game in Africa. Others were just upset it wasn’t a Jersey Mike’s Subs.
