Sissy’s Southern Kitchen and Bar closed temporarily in early September, due to infrastructure issues with the building. The closure may be permanent, but time will tell. Sissy’s was famous for its pressure-cooked friend chicken, and owner Lisa Garza-Selcer’s Food Network fame helped lift the restaurant into the limelight on the Dallas dinner scene.
Beauty Bar, the lively bar and dance club at Henderson and McMillan, is headed to Deep Ellum. A mixed-use residential development is soon to break ground on the property where Beauty Bar has lived for the last six and half years. Owner Brooke Humphries, who also owns Pints and Quarts and Mudsmith (which both recently expanded into the Oak Lawn), says Beauty Bar will be open back up in early 2018 in Deep Ellum.
Botolino Gelato Artigianale, the artisan gelato spot on Lower Greenville, is now open. The gelateria promises fresh ingredients, gelato made from scratch and interesting takes on local flavors. Botolino is where World Beer Company used to be, at 2116 Greenville Ave.
