Mother of All PTAs

Lakewood and East Dallas mothers have earned respect (and sometimes fear) for their vehement defense and diligent support of neighborhood schools. Because of their efforts, we enjoy good schools while others in the City do not.

The 1991-92 Woodrow PTA Board includes Cookie Stokes, president; Philis Knox, vice-president; Suzanne Burch, recording secretary; Barbara Bessner, corresponding secretary; Ann Jones, treasurer; Carol Hensley, historian; Pam Brimer, parliamentarian; Sharon Donaghe and Barbara Johnson, council delegates; Marilyn McBride, membership; Yolanda Najera, programs; Linda Boone, health; Ruth Pendergrass, education; Betty and Bobby Mayes, efficiency; and Lana Stackhouse, publicity.

Make a Difference

Another PTA mother getting ready for the new school year is volunteer director Pam Freeman, who is sending out an urgent request for help. Because of major cutbacks in the school district’s budget, volunteers are needed more than ever.

If you would like to help by tutoring, speaking to a class, sponsoring a student in danger of dropping out, or just providing general support, please call 601-2164. Out of nearly 200 Dallas public schools, Woodrow is always near the top in volunteer hours logged. Let’s keep it that way.
