Full Disclosure: My wife teaches 4th grade at St Thomas…..
A few years ago, STA students became pen pals with a soldier who just completed his 4th tour overseas. He was also a first responder to 9/11 in New York.
The soldier came down last week from New York to visit the children who made his life easier while serving our country. These are really good kids who did something really nice. The excitement in their eyes was priceless as they were able to finally see their pen pal in person. Many of these students have been communicating with him for years.
While I am impressed with the kids for all their letter writing, I am even more impressed with the soldier for coming on his own dime to show the kids his appreciation.
