YMCA almost finished

The White Rock YMCA is on the home stretch of its construction. There are still some windows that need to be installed and a little more work to finish on the outside, but the construction has begun inside as well. Eric Schenkelberg with the White Rock YMCA says he figures the project will be complete sometime around end of February or beginning of March.

At the start of the new year, the White Rock YMCA is still within 85-90 percent of its fundraising goal of $14 million. They’ve raised $12 million, but they still need to raise the last $2 million. You can track the progress on the White Rock YMCA website.

The Y is continuing its Click the Brick campaign. Starting at $1,500, community members can purchase a brick with their name on it. Each will receive a yard sign saying “I gave to my Y.” Go to the White Rock YMCA website to learn more.

If you haven’t kept up with the construction, here’s a slideshow of the progress over the months:

The White Rock YMCA broke ground on its proposed 30,000 square foot facility in November 2013…

In April 2014, dirt started flying…

In June, construction crews were putting in pipes and preparing to lay the foundation…

And by July, the bare bones had been put into place…

And in August….

In October, the walls were going up…

And in December…
