More than a year after East Lawther Drive was closed for construction, the road is still a few more months away from reopening.
East Lawther is expected to reopen in December when a Dallas Water Utilities contractor finishes installing water and wastewater mains under the road that runs along White Rock Lake and the Dallas Arboretum.
It was closed in September 2018 to replace aging infrastructure and improve the water delivery and wastewater collection systems. When complete, 9,000 linear feet of water mains and 6,000 linear feet of wastewater mains will have been installed.
The contractor expects to have all utility mains installed before the end of October, followed by final paving and surface restoration, District 9 City Councilwoman Paula Blackmon said on Facebook. The road will have new paving along areas disturbed by construction.
Winfrey Point from the north remains open, as well as access to public trails.
