Water and wastewater mains are being replaced under East Lawther between Garland Road and Poppy Drive on the east side of White Rock Lake, which will close the road to cars for over a year.
Beginning on Sept. 17, vehicles will not be able to drive down the road that runs behind the Arboretum and along the lake. The shared path for runners and cyclists will not be impacted. Dallas Park and Recreation says that the construction should finish up in the fall of 2019, weather permitting.
Construction crews will begin staging the equipment in the parking lot at the bottom of Winfrey Point soon, and will build a construction fence between the trail and the road as the pipe replacement progresses.
