IMG_1569East Dallas nonprofit Alley’s House, which serves teen moms and their children, just named a new executive director, Rachel Branaman.

Founder and executive director Allison Whitehead, who we spoke with in February for a story about the organization, is retiring. After a regional search, she’s chosen Branaman to take her place.

“I’m comfortable to turn the organization to Rachel knowing that it is in more than capable hands,” Whitehead says.

Whitehead and board president Chris Evans tout Branaman’s fundraising expertise, nonprofit knowledge and strong leadership skills as her biggest qualifiers for the position.

Branaman started the position yesterday, Sept. 3, and there will also be a formal announcement during the Creating New Futures Luncheon on Sept. 26.

For the past 16 years, Alley’s House has provided guidance and support for more than 800 young women, ages 13 to 21, through its mission to empower them and their children to achieve independence through support, education and mentorship.
