  • Robert Wilonsky wrote a story for the DMN about 111-year-old Davy Crockett School on Carroll Avenue. Years ago, the school was sold to Ken Good, who promised to renovate the building. • The Dallas Morning News Charities fundraising campaign raised more than $1.6 million for local DFW nonprofits, and a portion of the proceeds benefit charities serving the East Dallas community, including White Rock Center for Hope off Garland, Family Gateway near downtown, Austin Street Center and others. This is the 14th year the charities raised more than $1 million, and the first year to receive a single donation of $500,000 – the largest gift in the campaign’s 28-year history — according to a press release.
