Neighbor Kelley Murphy sent us some pictures of the beautiful mute swan that has made White Rock Lake its home recently. Murphy says:

“This beautiful mute swan showed up alone at White Rock Lake approximately five months ago. No one knows how it came to be here as they are not native to this area. We (meaning fellow admirers and neighbors) were wondering if it would be able to survive our summer heat but it seems to be doing quite well and can be seen daily “hanging out” with the geese at Sunset Bay. Recently a neighbor and bird lover pointed out that it seems someone had most likely clipped its wings so that it couldn’t fly and now it appears they are growing back. I have enjoyed having the opportunity to photograph the swan and as you can see from the attached pictures it is quite the model.”
