Dallas Police are investigating a homicide resulting from a stabbing incident they were called to at about 9:30 a.m. Wednesday morning, south of Tenison Park Golf Course

The victim, identified by DPD as 50-year-old Chandra Nagamallaiah, died at the scene in the 3400 block of Samuell Boulevard on Sept. 10 and was discovered to have been cut several times with an edged weapon by the suspect, 37-year-old Yordanis Cobos-Martinez, who was arrested and is facing a capital murder charge, according to The DPD Beat

The Dallas Morning News reported that Nagamallaiah was a motel manager, and Cobos-Martinez was an employee. According to the arrest report, Cobos-Martinez became upset with the manager and attacked (and ultimately, decapitated) Nagamallaiah with a machete.

“Our officers were proactively patrolling the area and responded quickly to take the violent criminal into custody,” Dallas Police Executive Assistant Chief Terrence Rhodes said via WFAA. “Even though (the suspect) was armed with a bladed weapon, the officers showed tremendous restraint and used minimal force to apprehend him. This violent crime will not go unpunished and our department will thoroughly investigate and bring charges against the suspect.”
