This is probably in the category of general interest but no action needed: The DMN reports that a number of Tenet hospital in Texas, including Doctors Hospital at White Rock Lake, are part of a union-organizing campaign among nurses. My understanding of the process is that Tenet agreed on a national basis to allow union organizers into its hospitals in an agreed-upon rotation, with a period of time reserved for organizing in each hospital and then either a vote for unionizing or not; then the organizers move on to the next Tenet hospital, in this case Centennial Medical Center in Frisco later this year and Lake Pointe Medical Center in Rowlett next year. Meanwhile, Texas Health Resources told the DMN it’s resisting union organizing by doing its best to pay nurses well; the story indicated that the average pay for a nurse at one of its 13 North Texas hospitals earns $68,245 per year.
