Building a Legacy from Student to TeacherĀ

We celebrate the inspiring journeys of Dallas ISD alumni in District 3 who have returned as educators, highlighting the legacy they build within their communities.

Nick Enriquez-Ā

We recently caught up with Nick Enriquez, a proud alumni of Bryan Adams High School Leadership Academy, Class of 2007, who now serves as a teacher and swimming coach at his alma mater.Ā

Mr. Enriquez earned a bachelor’s in kinesiology from the University of Texas and holds several positions at Bryan Adams, including head swim coach, head baseball coach, assistant athletic coordinator, and yearbook sponsor.

Ā He reflects on his unique Dallas ISD education and the legacy he is building, saying, “Teaching and coaching at the school I went to is really special. Mixing traditions with new ideas makes it a rewarding experience.”

His accomplishments include being a three-time BA Coach of the Year and leading his swim team to eight District Championships, adding to the legacy of excellence at Bryan Adams. Thinking back on his time in Dallas ISD, he fondly recalls Mrs. Brass, his third grade teacher at Victor H. Hexter Elementary School, who made learning both fun and challenging.

Jose Rodriguez-

We recently connected with Jose Rodriguez, a proud alumni of Bryan Adams High School Leadership Academy, Class of 2010, who now serves as a BioMed teacher at his alma mater.

Mr. Rodriguez’s unique Dallas ISD education was shaped by teachers who believed in their students and instilled a dedication to lifelong learning, creating a legacy of support and inspiration. He earned a bachelor’s in biology and a master’s in education from Texas A&M University-Commerce, preparing him to lead initiatives like the NAF Academy and National Honor Society at Bryan Adams.Ā

Recognized as Campus Teacher of the Year in 2022 and awarded the Texas Instruments Fellowship Innovation Teaching Grant, Mr. Rodriguez is committed to innovative teaching practices that leave a lasting legacy. He fondly recalls Mrs. Ruth Kelly Fortner, his AP English III teacher, whose unwavering support and kindness inspired him throughout his educational journey. Mr. Rodriguez advises current students to stay curious and embrace lifelong learning, emphasizing the importance of building strong relationships and practicing empathy in the classroom.
