No, this is not a dystopian cityscape. There are no teen survivors of the nuclear holocaust scavenging for radioactive squirrel-dogs living in the burned-out husk of this building.
This is, however, all that’s left of the historic Dallas ISD headquarters at Ross and Washington in East Dallas. When a demolition permit was issued for the building after Dallas ISD moved to 9400 North Central Expressway, pubic outcry wanted to save the 1950s art deco design.
The $9 million plot of land is slated to become 365 luxury apartment units that will maintain the art deco hull as a leasing office and amenity area for the complex. The complex also will have a central courtyard. Units will range between 500 and 1,150 square feet.
