The school district is receiving $100 million less than expected from the state thanks to legislative budget cuts.

Along with closing 10 schools, money-saving efforts include increasing class sizes in elementary schools and contracting custodial services.

The proposal would fund a pre-IB program at J.L. Long and increased athletics for seventh grade.

The first budget town hall meeting in our neighborhood is at 6 p.m. Monday, June 18, at Lakewood Elementary School. Another is at 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 19 at Bryan Adams High School.
