The developer, RangeWater Real Estate, purchased the 1-acre property in the 5700 block of Richmond Avenue near Lower Greenville, the Dallas Morning News reported.

Plans for the rental community, located across the street from Sam’s Club, have been in the works for several months, according to the Morning News.

The former property owner, Madison Partners, demolished the building in 2018 because the structure was unsound, the Advocate previously reported.

Pietro’s owner Pietro Eustachio was a native of Palermo, Italy, and he raised his family and ran the restaurant on Richmond Avenue for 55 years. He put the property up for lease in 2015 and closed the eatery in 2017.

Pietro’s became a staple in a neighborhood known for a revolving door of opening and closing restaurants. The area is also starting to attract housing developments.

Last year, Trammell Crow Residential opened an apartment building on Greenville and Belmont avenues.

In addition to the Lower Greenville development, RangeWater, formerly known as Pollack Shores, is building a 240-unit apartment community on Ross Avenue.
