Crime in Dallas saw a steep drop off during last week’s winter storm.

On Feb. 15, there were 723 property crimes, 639 crimes categorized as “other” and 213 violent crimes in Dallas. By Feb. 22, there were 228 property crimes, 203 crimes categorized as “other” and 69 violent crimes.

Since Feb. 1, this a nearly 80% decrease in property and “other” crimes and a 70% decrease in violent crimes.

The spring months in 2020 saw low crime rates compared to the fall and winter months. Here’s a reminder of what crime looked like in Dallas in last year:

The most common crimes in Lakewood and East Dallas in recent days have been property-related and categorized as “other.”

2019 data shows Dallas had 2.26 police officers per 1,000 residents. There were 3,075 total police officers for a population of over 1.3 million.
