If voters approve it next May, the city could acquire $600-$800 million in general obligation bonds to spend on infrastructure such as streets, sidewalks, libraries and parks.
Several town-hall meetings to hear how neighbors think those borrowed millions should be spent are scheduled in our neighborhood next month:
Oct. 10, Tietze Park pavilion, Councilman Philip Kingston, 6 p.m.
Oct. 12, Ridgewood Recreation Center, Councilman Mark Clayton, 6:30 p.m.
Oct. 17, Shoreline Dallas Church, Councilman Mark Clayton, 6:30 p.m.
Oct. 17, virtual meeting via Twitter, @PhilipTKingston, 7 p.m.
City Council has developed a preliminary inventory of projects that could be included in the bond program. In our neighborhood, there are hundreds of proposals, including:
$6.2 million to replace fire station No. 31,
$3.5 million to renovate the Lakewood Library,
$2.8 million to renovate the Mockingbird Station plaza and improve pedestrian access,
and many millions of dollars to repave and improve roads throughout the neighborhood.
Use this how-to and search or peruse the city’s list of desires.
