Two weeks ago today, avid Dallas runners Kelli Johnston and Robert Watling finished the Boston Marathon before deadly explosives detonated.
Unlike many other spectators and runners, Johnston and Watling remember the race day fondly. The couple wed just a few hours after the explosions in the Boston Commons.
Johnston and Watling began their relationship after meeting at The Pearl Cup on Henderson Avenue. They ran together in many races, including last year’s Chicago marathon, where Watling surprised Johnston afterwards with a marriage proposal.
