Every year, the fair sponsors school supply giveaways and brings Dallas together in support of education. The mayor, Dallas ISD and the Junior League of Dallas are collaborating to continue serving economically disadvantaged students, the press release said.

“The Mayor’s Back to School Fair is one of Dallas’ most impactful annual events — and one of my personal favorites,” Johnson stated in the release. “Each year, [it] equips thousands of kids and families with what they need to succeed in the school year ahead. [The fair] exemplifies the very best of the Dallas spirit, showing that our city is committed to supporting our neighbors in need and ensuring that everyone is able to take advantage of the great opportunities Dallas has to offer.”

This year, the fair will give free school supplies to pre-registered students from Pre-K to 12th grade. It will also provide access to immunizations, dental screenings, vision exams, and health and social services.

The event is set to take place 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 1, at Fair Park. Participants can register for the fair, sign up to volunteer, or become a vendor or sponsor online. To receive school supplies, families must register in advance and qualify based on residency, school enrollment and household income.

The fair will take place at 3809 Grand Ave. at Fair Park.
