Maybe Dallas isn’t known for historic preservation, but a book from Preservation Dallas and the Dallas Heritage Village shows that there is still some cool old stuff around. The book, Dallas Landmarks, highlights the city’s historic places in pictures and stories. The book includes some historic places, such as the Statler Hilton building downtown and the St. James African Methodist Episcopal Church in Southeast Dallas, which are considered endangered sites. But it also includes East Dallas sites, including the Swiss Avenue Gates, originally called the Munger Place Gates, which were rebuilt in 1985.

The book, from Arcadia Publishing, retails for $21.99 and has a companion book of postcards, which sells for $7.99. One of the postcards is pictured at the right.
