On Sunday morning, Dallas Fire-Rescue recovered the body of a man who was “swept away” while trying to cross White Rock Creek on foot Saturday night.

According to officials, at 10:32 p.m. Dallas Fire-Rescue units were dispatched to White Rock Creek, at 4945 W. Lawther Drive to assist with the search of a man who fell in the creek.

Multiple DFR units, boats, heavy apparatus and their drone team worked for hours into the morning hours with no success, a news release said.

Sunday morning between 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m., police and fire units resumed search when the water was calmer and levels were lower.

Crews located the deceased body of a man, fitting the description of the victim, at approximately 11:30 a.m. The man was located about 100 yards from the location he went missing.

The Dallas County Medical Examiner will confirm the individual’s identity and the cause of death.
