It took a lot of barking by humans, but Old East Dallas dogs will soon have a park of their own.
In 2020, Crockett Park, at Carroll Avenue and Victor Street, will become Crockett Dog Park, said Jesse Moreno, a Park and Recreation Board member for District 2.
The 1.8-acre space will become a fenced-in area for large and small dogs. It will also include updated walking paths, picnic tables, a shaded pavilion and some ornamental trees and shrubs, D Magazine reported.
The final cost has not yet been determined. Mayor Pro Tem Adam Medrano has allocated $500,000 in bond money for the project. If the cost exceeds that, Friends of Crockett Dog Park has offered to help fundraise, according to the publication.
Moreno told D Magazine that he expects the park board to approve the plan and grant construction permits within the first three months of 2020.
