This is not the coyote I saw, but no coyote post is complete without a picture. This photo was taken by Robert Bunch at White Rock Lake.

I was leaving the office with my wife about 9 p.m. on Valentine’s Day, returning to pick up my computer after catching a showing of that romantic movie A Good Day to Die Hard with Bruce Willis and an all-star cast of automatic weapons, and what should appear trotting north down Alderson at Oram and heading toward Richmond: a seemingly well-fed, relatively calm coyote.

My wife originally thought it was a dog, but my keen sense for news led me to more closely inspect the animal from the safety of my car, and sure enough, it was a hyper-local blogger’s dream — an actual coyote trotting down a residential street.

The coyote ran along Alderson until we drew almost even with it, and then — just as I hoped to capture my future-award-winning photo — it hooked west down the alley behind Oram, and I decided to leave it alone.

If you live in the area, keep an eye out. If you don’t, just keep watching our blog for the next edition of Coyotes in Lakewood/East Dallas.
