VAC represents Dallas’ veteran community through the evaluation and recommendation of programs, policies and practices that are created to aid veterans seeking out “basic needs”. These needs include obtaining housing, employment and comprehensive mental health assistance.

The volunteer-based position has a term limit of two years and requires candidates to have knowledge of and/or experience with veteran affairs.

To date, the commission has 15 seats and four vacancies. At least four members of the commission must be currently serving or have previously served in the United States military.

Residents are asked to send resumes to district9@dallas.gov if they are interested in serving on the VAC.
