The Dallas Police Department is still investigating the 1978 murder of a 23-year-old in Old East Dallas.
Joe Tony Jaramillo was found dead from a gunshot wound on Nov. 26, 1978, in the parking lot of the Starlight Lounge on Main Street.

The Starlight Lounge building at 4319 Main St. was constructed in 1956 as a restaurant and changed names several times before it became the Starlight Lounge, Central Track reported.
In 2021, the team behind The Nines nightclub opened Charlie’s Star Lounge in the Starlight Lounge space, The Dallas Morning News reported. The renovation project maintained the feel of a dive bar but replaced the jukebox and pool table with a dance floor and vintage arcade games, among other changes.
